The year 2024 starts with very good news for the Nb4D group, with the kick-off of two new European projects for the next 4 following years: TAME and TOXBOX.
TAME (https://tame-itn.eu/) is the acronym of Doctoral training network TAu imMunE: strategies for innovative diagnosis and therapies in dementia and constitutes the 1st Tau Network of Europe. This project is a Marie Curie action in which 9 beneficiaries and 7 associated partners from 7 different countries will investigate for a better understanding of the Tau-related diseases and the development of more effective diagnosis and interventions for Alzheimer and less common tauopathies. It will be coordinated by the Institute National de la Santé et de la Recherche Medicale from France and supposes and outstanding opportunity to carry out an international doctoral thesis. Up to 9 positions are offered (https://tame-itn.eu/join-us/) being one of them under the supervision of Prof. M.-Pilar Marco and Dr. J.-Pablo Salvador at Nb4D.
TOXBOX stands for Toxicology-testing platform integrating immunocompetent in vitro/ex vivo modules with real-time sensing and machine learning based in silico models for life cycle assessment and SSbD and is RIA action gathering up to 19 participants under the scientific coordination of Spartha Medical, from France. Safe and Sustainable by Design approach requires an entire life cycle monitoring of toxicity of chemicals. New sets of instrumentation that enables modular testing capacities with integrated data bridging and progressive in silico model development systems are needed to overcome current testing systems limitations. TOXBOX will provide a device based on a prototype developed in a H2020 project (PANBioRA), with a flexible microfluidic and instrument architecture to provide a plug and play testing platform to ease accessibility and interlaboratory validation. In this project, the Nb4D group participates together with the team of Dr. César Fernández, from the GTQ group from IMB-CNM.
Both project are on the go since January the 1st and, actually, the kick-off meeting of TOXBOX will take place in Strasbourg between the 22nd and the 24th of January.
