In human health, chronic hepatic diseases can bring with diverse complications, among which the most serious is the portal hypertension (PH). It is the cause of about 3000 people only in Spain. The diagnosis of this alteration in the portal vein requires invasive techniques very expensive and available only in highly specialized centers. The main goal of this project is to develop a rapid diagnostic kit able to immediately detect biomarkers of PH in a single drop of blood. This method, based on immunochemical assays, would be useful not only for the diagnosis but also for disease monitoring in chronic patients.
